LIKEABILITY ... among other qualities and character traits, our kids need likeability. It's what brings favor, honor, respect from others, and leads to future 'promotability'. Likeability is defined as: possessing the attractive attitudes and relational skills that cause others to want to work with me. How does one obtain or increase their likeability? Work on relational savvy. Are you humble? cheerful? optimistic? empathetic? a good listener? a good observer? Do people find you easy to relate to? Do you ask questions to understand others? This is all part of developing relational savvy and ... likeability. Both of which lead to promotability.
What parent doesn't want their child to be promotable in the workplace and throughout their future career? Think about it. When our children gain new skills we want them to be able to apply them and grow from that application, right? It's the same in their future work. If they gain new skills over time we would want to see them benefiting from that new learning through application. Ideally, others also benefit from that and the work team is ultimately strengthened. This is why we are so passionate about equipping kids with the tools they need in their "backpack of life skills" through the Friendship Fixer model. People who know how to effectively resolve conflict are rare. These skills are needed in our leaders, in our families, in our communities. Those who can resolve conflict are counted on, they are favored, they are likeable, they are ... promotable. After my 20+ years in the corporate world in Human Resources roles, watching the affects of poor conflict coping skills and managing that process, I can assure you that equipping our children with these tools is imperative for their workplace success, well-being, and overall relational health. It's time to make sure every child has the Friendship Fixer tools to work with. Thoughts? Feedback? Please share. Thanks!
